moved IP, server now LIVE, but 'not a valid extension'

Postby otel2 » Sun May 01, 2011 11:50 pm

Hi
I have the server at my office for test prior deployment. Had the ip set to 192.168.1.22 and had everything working.

I then moved it to my DC, changed the IP in ifcfg, and ran the update_server_ip script.
I also went into viciadmin and manually changed all IPs to new one.

My Softphone logs into server, but when ilogin the agent, the phone rings, but then says: 'i'm sorry, but this is not a valid extension.

see the output below:

I then moved it to my DC, changed the IP in ifcfg, and ran the update_server_ip script.
I also went into viciadmin and manually changed all IPs to new one.
if you ran the script, and the ips in viciadmin were still wrong, you need to run the script again. you should not manually modify those values (not because it breaks anything, but because if those are wrong there are lots of others that are also wrong, and since you cannot see them ... you won't know if they are updated because you manually modified the only ones you can see!)

Change one of them back and run the server ip change script again until it actually changes that ip for you. then the ones you cannot see will likely be changed as well.

Happy hunting. 8)

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system.

Hi
I had done this, as the conference and phones had no ips.
the point is that why does it dissappear when i run server ip update?

everything was working fine pre-deployment, but as soon as i changed the IP (when deployed publicly), it now does not even save the new ips....

BTW: After changing the IPs in conference and Phones, the softphone rings when i login agent, I answer, but no voice message for anything, agent web screen shows:

1. Install Vici on server.
2. Logins from other computer to admin (as usual).
3. Configure eth0.
4. Reboot server (type reboot in SERVER commnd line)
5. Update databes ip (from other computer)

There's no need to run update_server_ip i think. Update_server_ip is the same as points 3,4,5 but done directly on server (using servers keyboard, for lack of simpler explanation).

Re-installing is what I'm trying to avoid to do, as the server is off site, but I have remote access to it.

Can I reinstall server from remote?

If somehow You manage to remotely place "vicidial cd" in the server cd-rom, then yes You can. :D

The best thing for You, and many other people would be "reset this page to default settings" or "reset server to default settings".

Actually, vicidial CAN be reinstalled, but the generic methods will not reinstall your database.

But if you want to be funny, you can follow some of the commands from the Scratch Install Instructions and you will end up with a fresh system. If you check your hard drive source code directories, it is likely that you will have the source from your GoAutoDial installation in another (non-live) folder and can recopy, but no need to do that if you've never customized your code.

It is also likely that there is a .sql file that could be used to reset your database.

Of course, you COULD upgrade to Vicidial 2.4SVN and have an updated database and new cool toys ... but you've have to give up the pretty Agent Screen.

Hi

what cool new toys are we talking about here? Have you got the whisper/barge facility finally working nicely? :)

The pretty agent screen does play an important role, but i can apply cosmetics to the Vicidial one if you tell me which files.

then of course, how to upgrade go autodial to it?

The isntallation is fresh and new, i havent deployed it as yet... only prob is that I already installed it at the Data Centre, and its 3 hours drive :(

after another 2 hours trying to fix this...i've realised that i need to 'manually default' my installation to zero and reset every setting.

I need:
1- a Default .sql update file which I can reset the 'asterisk' database.
2- default config files.

If anyone who has just installed goautodial assist me with this please? not sure if you can upload in this forum, or you may email it to me...

your assistance is appreciated.

follow the scratch install instructions. everything you need is already on your system. you can also use the svn install instructions in the vicidial wiki.

and this time, make a backup before you begin modifying ...?

Manually updating the IP address entries (phones, conferences, server and etc) most of the times lead to an unusable system. A forgotten entry or two or maybe more is usually the culprit. That's the reason why the "update_server_ipl" script is available. This is a symlink to "/usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl" which automatically updates all the IP adress entries.

i did do the update_server_ipl prior updating manually. Failing that I updated manually.

However, I'm facing a more serious problem now with goautodial, so i'm putting this project on hold.

See the problem here:

i've actually (always) managed to resolve this by re-running the script several times with ALL possible IP addresses in it. one by one it resolves/catches them all and then a reboot and *poof* we're good. BUT I've never had one with a blank, never tried that one.

I re installed server at the new ip, and it now seems ok with all ips.

i loaded new leads in the list, but when i click on agent login, no campaign shows.

I followed instructions as here, but i think i missed something.
