Using goautodail over hosted vpn

Postby hadi » Sat May 19, 2012 7:52 pm

Hi,

I’m planning to install goautodail for inbound calls. I have view questions regards that.

1- My ISP blocking VoIP. My work around here to use hosted vpn services available on the net with static ip address. Means vpn with public ip.so I can route DID to my server for inbound.
Is this right what I’m planning to do here?

2-it’s important to have wan public ip on eth0 of my server goautodail ? or just enough static lan ip.

What I heard from people. I can’t do outbound if I didn’t configure wan public ip on eth0.

thanks and regards

1) Static IP is never required.

2) eth0 or eth1 or any other eth assignment makes no difference as long as you are able to configure it in the OS and be sure that the vicidial admin update ip script is run to alter Vicidial to use the new IP address.

3) Be aware that GoAutoDial is an Installation Tool for Vicidial. The other installation tool is Vicibox (on Vicibox.com). There are differences between the two, of course. OpenSuSE is the operating system in use for Vicibox. If you require CentOS, you must use GoAutoDial unless you want to install manually (GoAutoDial is far superior to installing manually if you re not a linux technician). GoAutoDial is not, however, compatible with the latest code of Vicidial. All this means is that you can upgrade to the latest version of Vicidial any time you like, but some of the pretty stuff that comes with GoAutoDial will cease to work (as those have not yet been updated). There is always a bit of a Lag awaiting GoAutoDial updates. GoAutoDial is arguably the easiest installer, but Vicibox is the most compatible and has more users who understand and work on it. Since both are free, it is not a bad idea to try installing both (several times) and see which one suits you.

4) VPN bouncing for SIP calls can be detrimental to call quality (severely). Your telephone signal will be bouncing an extra time and may have degraded quality. In addition to that the VPN bouncer may be optimized for generic web surfing and not VOIP which can cause bad latency. Test before you commit to anything long term. Also consider using an alternate SIP or IAX port to avoid detection, there are several providers capable of non-standard ports, which would allow you direct signalling.

5) If you have restrictive service, this generally comes with low bandwidth. In a low bandwidth situation it is often necessary to use a hosted Vicidial (such as Vicihost.com or Poundteam.com) to allow your small bandwidth to connect to the hosted Massive Bandwidth so you only need a single connection per agent. This solution could also conceivably give you the ability to install your own VPN on your hosted Vicidial system, which could be optimized specifically for VOIP by YOU, giving you full control over the entire scenario and ability to change ports or anything else you require for the best possible signal. Saving the fee for hosted VPN and making the best use of the money used for any hosted service. You should have a hosted Vicidial system in the country you intend to call (as close to your VOIP provider as possible if you cannot get one at least in the same country).

Dear williamconley,

Thank you for your reply. My hosted vpn will be only for VoIP traffic only. Not browsing.
Some vpn provider, providers bandwidths plans to choose between them and select my need of bandwidth for the vpn . Of course at extra cost for the bandwidth.
Is this fine to go with vpn. If the provider provides bandwidths plans according to the customer needs?

Can you quote for me hardware requirements for 100 seats inbound only?

Hosted vicidail little more expansive for us. In house setup pretty ship.

We are planning to have Europe country’s DIDs for 50 countries’ to point to us for inbound.
Please guide me for good Europe selling DIDs numbers.
I’m little bit confusing about sip uri and sip register.
For inbound what I have to select sip uri or sip register to configure it on vicidail .
What I know, first I have to create sip registrations with the voip carrier next setup the DID.
But in sip uri, I’m confusing here please clear me regards this.

I’m a Linux technical with 5 years of experience I have installed trixbox before for manual dialing and vicidailnow for predictive dialer.
After your wonderful explanation I’m going for vicibox tools installation for vicidail.
Is there’s any manual for that? How to guide for installation.

Our isp blocking VoIP. But we have pretty much bandwidth as we ask for. We do have DSL. Leased line up to 50 Mbit.

Have you consider changing to an isp that accepts voip ?

And how are they blocking voip? ports or deep packet inspection?

I don’t know how the block. Maybe port. But if port we can change the singling to different port. But in package inspection. No way.

It’s the only isp in my country
