System Backup

Is there are recommended method to backup your system? I was thinking of using something like Acronis as it will backup the entire system and you can restore it pretty quickly. any additional ideas? Anyone doing this in a real life application?

We have a client using acronis and of course ViciDial has the ADMIN_backup.pl application to backup all ViciDial-related stuff.
