Hello guys,

first i have to say i read much about vicidial and now i would plan to do my own vicidial installation. but i'm not sure how exactly i should do it.

i want a vicidial outbound system.
i have got an old dell system with 4gb ram and 1x 2,4ghz xeon processor (optional 2). i have got many time (i think i will need it (-: )
later 15 agents should be able to use the outbound system.
i ve got basic skills in linux and mysql.
we already have a dialing system and a big nortel ip tk system, but its very expensive, so i decided to try something new.

my question to you is:

what should i do first?
-> download vicidial now and just try it out?
-> read special documents and installation after
-> download any linux dist and install first asterisk and then mysql / vicidial?

perhaps i don't find a document with a step by step introduction.
after installation and some working telephones, should i buy the agent/administrator manuel or before?

sorry if there is any stupid question, keep cool, i'm a newbie here and perhaps in one year i can help other guys :-)

best regards

Hi Phil, im actually now running my first install using the "full kit" ViciDialNOW..

Cant really tell you how it all works just yet, but what i can say is you
should start by reading all the posts marked sticky on this forum..
this is what i did

the best post to read is:

Sticky: VicidialNOW 1.2 Installation and Getting Started Guide

click the link there to download the pdf and this is as close to a step by step guideline you can find.. its really quite helpfull!

i actually think before you spend the 100 or 50 bucks for the paid pdfs you should atleast try to install and ask questions here, but then again that's just my opinion.

Good Luck!

i guess best advice i could give is do some home work,
then just run your first install..

you'll learn the most from trail and error.

I have been using Vicidial since 1.0.7 and bought the manager manual three days ago. The VicidialNow 1.2 getting started guide is great, but to really start understanding how the application works, its very useful to have the manual. It all comes down to time, if you have the time, do a scratch install and learn about the various issues that pop up. If not, VicidialNow and ViciBox are the best to get started and require little additional config.

Thanks,
i already installed vicibox, but i dont know the difference between vicidialnow and vicibox.
ok a differnt linux dist. but else?

i think i will install vicidialnow, try to connect some softphones, connect to the sip gateway, make some calls and place a testcampaign.
reading some helpful topics in the forum and then trail and error how u said.

At the end of the day, both installs will give you a full vicidial 2.0.5 install, so either one should really be ok. ViciBox is based on a better Ubuntu OS and VicidialNow is based off CentOS which the Vicidial team does not recommend. All other features should be the same.
