Bulk adding users and phones

VicidialNow 1.2
Asterisk 1.2.30.2
VicidialNow touts itself as "No need to edit and mess around with asterisk conf files." but in my situation I don't know if I am going to be able to avoid it.
Since some conf files say they shouldn't be modified. I am looking for a way to add multiple phones and users to my dialer quickly instead of one at a time through the GUI. What files can be modified and which ones cannot? Or is there a script I can run that will accomplish this for me?
In my other older dialer (Asterisk 1.2.27, set up by a contractor) I was able to just copy and paste stations and users in quickly. Is that an option now?

HP DL380, Dual Quad core, 32GB Ram, Digium 2 port & 4 port cards, 6 T-1's
(I know this is overkill especially on a i686 install, but it was "easy" to install VicidialNow, and I don't know Asterisk or Vicidial well enough yet and my company is too cheap to do it right)
