Hello guys,

soon we will start with vicidial (in production).
everything works fine with vicidialnow.

now my question:

should i try to install vicibox with ubuntu and update to asterisk 1.4 if possible or should i just go into production with vicidialnow.
many people said, why are u using asterisk 1.2, it's nearly endoflife...
so i thought, i ask the professionals :-)

mad means, asterisk 1.4 is stable and he has got an update on http://download.vicidial.com/required-a ... ici.tar.gz
to install for asterisk 1.4 on vicibox...
is it very difficult to install asterisk 1.4 on a vicibox image?
i'm not a linux expert but i'm young and i will learn :-)

thanks and regards
philip

Yep! Nothing wrong with using 1.2.X since ViciDial doesn't really need the features from the newer versions of Asterisk yet. It's proven stable and solid. Caveat is that it's nearing its end of life cycle. Which means that it will no longer be supported by the Asterisk developers soon.

We started installing 1.4.21.2+patches several months ago on all new systems because newer kernels don't support Asterisk 1.2(because of zaptel 1.2). It has proven very stable and we only install this version now.

That means it's time to wean away from the 1.2.X versions soon.
