Need assistance

Postby dj mondo » Thu Apr 21, 2011 9:43 am

We are getting ready to buy a vicidial box. We are ordering it from vicidial themselves which they will build and configure the dialer for me and test it so that its ready to go out the box. I am left with a few questions, what information do i need to provide them. I am still learning our network and really don't know what kind of information to provide.

Not to mention our network is not like other networks. We use think clients that connect to one server, so they don't have a desktop at their desks. The thin clients do not support head sets, or any kind of audio in or out, so they use plantronics t10 hardphones to be able to speak with clients. Now i have to find a way so that my agents are able to chat. The only way right now is for me to get a windows server going and install the thin client software and have firefox point to the vicibox. Now i run into what do i do to get my agents the ability to talk. A few ideas is to use sip adapteres, or just replace the t10 with a hardphone that support sip trunking.

My other problem is we have 2 sip providers, one is pbx-change which is hook up to the old dialer and only handled out bound, but when i call all they say is we have simple trunk thats all and wont give me good information. the other is telovations whicn handle our in and out bound and has nothing to do with the dialer.

I am new to this type of network setup. So any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

You can continue to use the Plantronics T10 but you will need to purchase a channel bank and a Sangoma T1 card to do so. Each channel bank will support 24-phone lines or 24 T-10 adaptors. The Sangoma cards come in 1, 2, and 4 port versions. You will need 1 port for every channel bank you need.

The thin clients should be fine for the web interface. The only problem we've had with them is when the terminal server gets over-loaded. When this happens, all your agents will get crossed calls, logged out, hang, etc etc. As long as you can keep the load low on the terminal server, everything is fine though.

Well we decided to go with sip enabled phones. So that right there should take care of the problem of having the ability for agents to talk with someone.

I am currently working with our sip provider and vicidial, so that i can get the correct sip info and get that passed on to vicidial so they can have all that configured when they ship.

If anyone has dealt with pbs-change please let me know so i know what to ask this company, cause i keep passing what they give me to vicidial and they keep saying they need more information.

And as for the thin clients. I am setting up a windows server so the thin clients connect to that and then have the clients through web-browser point to the vicidial server. The thin client software can handle up to 30 users, which is the max anyways and our max users is 20. But with the old dialing software and thin client software running on the same server, we never ran into a delay or slow down issue. I believe as long as i don't add the thin client software to the vicidial box, the load of users logging in would be off loaded on to the windows server box and not vicidial server.

Hello, were you able to setup the center with thin clients?
If yes, what thin client model?
Also, are you using soft phones or hardware phones?
