Asterisk version

Postby ronsrussell » Wed Jul 29, 2009 5:15 pm

I just installed VICIbox from the latest ISO and I noticed that it installed Asterisk version 1.2 rather than 1.4. What is the reason for this?

Well thanks for the quick reply. FYI - the reason I asked the question is that the first VICIdialer we put in, with the assistance of the VICIdial Group, is running 1.4.21.2. So I thought it odd that the latest install package (which worked like a charm for me) is running 1.2.

As far as I have followed Matt's posts, 1.4.21.2 is nearly as stable as 1.2.30.2/4. I guess there would be no much difference using one or another, unless specific features, not present in the other version are needed.
As for why those versions were chosen for your setup and for VICIbox- I cannot comment.
Since 1.2.30.4 does the job just right and is pretty stable, I won't think of any upgrades, unless 1.4 branch is explicitly needed.
