Ticking sound when using gsm codec
Posted: Wed Nov 16, 2011 1:17 am
I have a very strange problem .
When I log in the servers using gsm codec, I get a ticking/clicking sound in the background wich is not constant .. for a couple of seconds is silcence .. and after that again ticking sound ... Is like when you plug a jack in a amplifier in Line In and you put your hand on the other jack and you get that kind of noise....
If I switch to alaw I have no problem ... I tried using sangoma usb timer but there is no difference . ( I have 5 asterisk servers installed with vicibox 3.0.8 )
If I make direct calls from the softphone using gsm codec I have no such problems, so is related directly to meetme conferences. The only difference is if I switch to G.711 codec. The problem goes away
The version of my installation is like this:
ViciBox 3.0.8:
Asterisk version: Asterisk 1.4.27.1-vici
SVN version: 2.4-338a BUILD: 110923-2043
I have 5 x Asterisk/Web server & 1 x DB
The asterisk are:
Dell 3 x R310 , 1 x R410 & 1 x DELL PowerEdge 2950
All of theme was installed from ViciBOX 3.0.8 64Bit ISO with nothing extra installed
I will take to post the specs on PowerEdge 2950 because it has only 20 extension on it and we cannot speak of load:
CPU: 2 x Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.20GHz
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 2 x 15k 146GB SAS & PERC 5i RAID 1 controller
SANGOMA USB TIMER with wanpipe-voicetime-1.0.13 driver
I have tried on all these servers with / without sangoma usb timers and makes no difference.
