Changing from dynamic to static IP

Hey,
I'm gonna be changing my network setup pretty soon, I was just wondering what caveats to be aware of before doing so.
I know I have to change the IP, but I'm not sure how to proceed/go about it.
Would editing the server IP in vicidial and changing the IP in ifconfig suffice?
Should I simply do a clean re-install and be done with it? It's not like I had tons of complex stuff configured on it.

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.
this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)
You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system.
If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.
Similar to This:
Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600
If you had posted the information above, the answer would be a bit easier.
In Vicibox, for instance, the script to run to change the IP address within Vicidial is in the ssh welcome/splash screen. GoAutoDial has a different setup, but you're on the Vicibox board.
Any other advice depends on the network change that's occurring. For instance: Are you giving Vicidial its own external IP address? Moving it from an external to an internal? Just moving from one external or internal to another?
And it ALL cases: You HAVE done a full backup of the database, which you have moved off of the server (preferably with the built-in script copying it off the server via ftp nightly) and verified that the database is actually IN the backup ... right?

That's cool will.
It's just to move from internal to internal.

Ok, I used both of the commands recommended when accessing SSH (yast lan and ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl) and now I can't reach the internet. the other computer on the vlan can access it just fine, its just the server that can't.

To clarify:The two can ping each other, but the server cannot reach the internet for some reason.
EDIT: Ok no, it can access the internet, it's just that for some reason the DNS settings have changed. Now I just have to find how to change them...
