VICIBOX 4.0.0 ISO | ASTERISK: 1.4.44-vici | VERSION: 2.6-375a | BUILD: 120831-1523 | CPU: i7-3770 | No Timing Hardware or Extra software | Hosted Server with core i7-3770 on ASUS P8H77-M PRO with 32GB RAM + 2x3TB SATA II driver using mdadm RAID1

I was checking the DB and found that all the String types are using utf8_unicode_ci. We are not using any utf8 based data, but also convert all the non-alpha characters to their latin-equivalent. So if vicidial + asterisk are not using utf, should I convert the CHARSET from utf8 to latin1 for all the columns/tables etc?

Sorry, I've never messed with the charsets. But I would say it is likely you'll have to change everything everywhere to accomodate any charset changes and beware security violations that may arise as you do so.

I am fairly certain, however, that this topic has been covered before in the history of this forum, at least to a certain degree.

I would also suggest that you avoid use of "all the ..." and perhaps modify one table at a time only where you actually require this data to change. Ease into it a bit and see if you notice any detrimental effects (on a nice virtual install so it's easy to test and reset)
