I just downloaded and installed the latest vicibox 4.0.1 iso on a spare server we had at the office. I had hoped to migrate the databases of my existing 2.4 installation and import the databases onto the new machine (the old one was becoming a mess.) So what I did was update the SVN code on the existing installation ( svn up), and I then proceeded to migrate the databases to the new version. I then did a MySQL dump and exported the data and uploaded it onto the new machine (vicibox 4.0.1).

After I did this I tried to access the web interface. This attempt was unsuccessful as it would not accept my username and password. I then only reset the vicidial_users table to the original table from the install and I was able to log in with credentials 6666 and password 1234.

When I tried to browse my old data I was unable to access any of the data. I did a MySQL "show tables" before and after the import of the database and I noticed that the default installation has 147 tables while my 2.4 install has 136 tables. Is there something that I did wrong in my migration?

describe this process in more detail. perhaps even posting the "history" result from your server showing the commands executed "to migrate" (be sure to remove any passwords or IP addresses or telephone numbers ...).

Given the odds, you did not actually upgrade the database and that will resolve your issue. Did you read the UPGRADE document in /usr/src/astguiclient/trunk?

Well, I simply followed the instructions given to me by the upgrade documentation:

That is, logged on to machine and in entered the following

mysql
use asterisk
\. /usr/src/astguiclient/trunk/extras/upgrade_2.6.sql

I was under the impression this was the only step required. But after doing this I still saw that there was a difference in the number of tables in the database, along with the fact that the number of columns in the user database was different from that of the original install to that of a clean install of vicibox 4.0.x

After I saw this was happening, I performed database migrations from 2.0 to 2.2, 2.2 to 2.4 and then 2.4 to 2.6. This seemed to bring my table count to the same as that of the new installation, but I am still unable to access the data via the web interface

I just went into the apache error log and upon trying to access a page and this is the error I received:

mmm.. seems I left some steps out. I am going to reload the database dump and try this again.

Ok so I did the following migrations 2.0.5, 2.2.0, 2.4, 2.6 and the interface seems to be picking up all the data now (probably not a great idea but it worked). Maybe there was something wrong with my database prior to upgrading and that's why I was having these issues. Right now I don't think I will know what the issue was.

if you performed the database sql executions out of order before, that was the problem. you can't go back and do an earlier one after a later one. sorry. glad it worked out though.
