openSUSE loosing the static ip address

Hi,
i installed vicidial a few days ago, started on the manual to sort out the features, and than system suddenly crashed.
When i went back to the server i discovered that it has lost the static IP address and the settings i gave to the system a few days ago.
Now when i try to recover and reboot it goes back to DHCP.
What could be the problem?

2) if you are a Really Smart Linux Person and set your ip address via the command line by modifying the network parameters and then your system experiences a power loss or performs a normal overnight reboot ... those command line changes are forgotten. use yast to set the network (properly) and it will be remembered upon "save" and after reboot and/or power loss your network will NOT change.

if you are experiencing power outages: beware crashed tables upon bringing the system back online. always check for them after a power outage.

of course, there is also your statement that you "try to recover", which could certainly have involved reverting some files/settings, etc, but you did not specify what you meant by "try to recover", so I can't really give an opinion.

3) oh, and since you are obviously a newbie, here are your newbie suggestions!

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Thank you, i will remember this, yes that is exactly what happened, the ip was set via the command line.

When you log into vicibox it tells you to run 'yast lan' to configure the network. Now you know why.
