Hi Friends
Finally I thought to install vicidial on a production server based on XEON 5000 series; for this I installed iso of vicibox server from vicibox.com.
The moment I restart pc it shoots an error of CDROM driver not being detected.
Following is the HW:
250X2 SATA RAID ENTERPRISE STORAGE
1TB SATA DRIVE
1 SATA DVDRW
Xeon 5500 based on intel original board.
Currently ubuntu 9.10 LAMP server is installed. How do I take it forward? I think it is based on 64 BIT.. please help..
TIA

If you have installed vicibox then you dont have ubuntu 9.10 LAMP any more.

Hi Michaell
Its not letting me install vicibox at all. Gives me error the moment I load cd.. moreover during the text phase of installation, it asks me for CDROM drivers which I can't locate as it is a generic sata DVDRW drive.

you should boot with vicibox cd.

I tried doing that but it gave me controller error; I downloaded REDUS based on SUSE but after asking about network it got me to prompt without installing vici at all.
Right now I am on SSH to the server and have followed the instructions as laid in the scratch install document. I am getting error while doing modprobe zaptel; it gives FATAL error.. any idea?

start with fixing the server so you can boot from cd.

Just a small update..
I started installing it from my current 9.10 server installation and I am stuck with modprobe zaptel; it returns error FATAL:Module zaptel not found.
I have tried module assistant auto-install zaptel as well but still no use.
uname-r outputs:
2.6.31-17-server
uname -a outputs:
Linux servex 2.6.31-17-server #54-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 10 18:06:56 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Server is based on Xeon, RAID enabled drives, 8GB RAM.
TIA

I need a technician for this?
I am sure its not hardware problem as I just used DVDRW to install 9.10 and other software as well.
I am pretty sure it is something to do with installation with vicidial itself. Zaptel is throwing up error nothing else.. so there is a problem with configuring zaptel dummy.
I have posted the update in prev post; modprobe zaptel throws error.

If you follow scratch install as you have told before, you would have installed ubuntu server 8.0.4

Oh! Now I get it, that means 9.10 is not yet supported. I thought installing newer OS would give some additional benefits. I will install 8.04 and follow it from the top.. thanks for the heads up.
Hope to resolve any chained dependencies now. That being said, should we never update OS once vicidial is running?

Start with figuring out why your server wont boot and install with vicibox

I tried google and kept googling for hours and hours!
I could not figure it out.. the CDR of serverbox boots up to a text phase. There it asks me to provide it drivers for CDROM through floppy disk; that is where I fail to understand and help. It is a generic sata CDROM, what should I do? This is what leaves me clueless.. and then installation comes to a halt.
Do you think that might be the only problem? The reason why I get confused is, it boots up to that point through CDROM only, then why does it ask me to provide driver later?

Redux took me through steps asking about network interface. This intel board came with failsafe network controller so after configuring it, I let SuSe move on.. at this point I wondered when will it ask about username password etc. Nothing happened and after few minutes (4-5) it dropped me to shell where I entered admin and vicidial as username/password combination. That's about it.
I was stuck thereafter.
However, the installation guide said that it will ask me various other options regarding disk, sql etc but nothing popped up. Downloaded it from
http://downloads.vicidial.com/iso/vicibox/server/ and the iso named ViciBox_Redux.i686-0.1.2.iso .
