GMT

Postby GaD » Fri Jul 12, 2013 4:11 pm

I have a question regarding GMT.
Vici connects to this server http://phonecodes.vicidial.com/GMT_USA_zip-latest.txt (and other two sites) to get the current GMT settings for each area code, right? Now on the website it says that, for example, New Jersey is GMT -5 (08863 NJ -5.0 Y), but timeanddate DOT com shows they're currently GMT -4. My dialer is not in the States and we do not do any sort of DST changes. My php.ini timezone is correct and I'm dialing Eastern numbers when I;m not suppoesd to.

Where to look or what to do..?

But NJ does observe DST and we are presently IN DST on the east coast.

To troubleshoot calling a number you should not be calling, it is best to find a single instance and track it through to the end. What lead was dialed? What TZ does it show? Was that TZ dialable at the time of the call? etc.

If you work on various system settings instead of attacking the error head-on, you'll end up fixing every error under the hood ... and still not solve your problem. Like replacing every component in the breaking system because that's what the guys at the brake shop said you "should" do. $3000 later you find out all you really needed was new break pads. Bummer. 8-)

I have also similiar unclear situation about time zone in vicidial. My time zone is GMT +2 , but when I set in vicidial that time zone I got totally another time.
When I set GMT-2 time zone I got correct time in vicidial ? I am totally confused about that? I must to know because I have some ADAPT campaign.Do I change time zone in every extension to GMT-2 ?

if your OS clock is not set properly for the TZ it's identified in, this can mess everything up.

NOT related to the TZ it is physically in. Just so that when you enter "date" at the command line the time is right in the TZ it quotes. So if it says 3:32 PM EST ... then in EST it is actually 3:32PM. NOT related to physical location. If that's true, setting your "phone" TZ to your actual TZ should render the correct time.

Also ensure the OS TZ and the php.ini TZ are both set to the same Zone.

And consider upgrading, which has been known to fix all sorts of bugs.
