I would like to know how does VICIDIAL's log files work.
Is there a setting somewhere to limit the file size or number of entries or even switch it off?
I have noticed that the /var/log/astguiclient directory becomes huge after a couple of months. Almost 9GB for log files is a bit overwhelming for me, especially if system has been used for only two months. This probably also waste a lot of CPU power and unnecessary disk activity.
I understand the debugging information is crucial for developers, but does a production system really need all the details recorded in the log files?

What version of astguiclient are you using?
You can disable the logs entirely by setting the server logs setting on the server to N and the agi output setting to NONE(in the servers section of admin.php).

I'm using 2.0.2. Thanks, I found the setting you were talking about. I did not think it would be that simple.

You're welcome, and it wasn't that simple in earlier versions, adding the logging control was a pain, but a very good thing in the end.

you can also have the log rotation (logrotate) script run every after office hours. i usually run mine 4am EST once every week. that way old logs are compressed by gzip and dont consume too much space.
