Im having this error. How can i correct this?

delete or disable any recently added phones or carriers until that goes away. you may have a "[" in a hostname for a carrier or phone ...

this should result in all occurrences of the word "host" and you can see if any are ... odd.

Thanks William for always giving support. I didn't find any odd on it. But since yesterday the error never came out again. I'm wondering if it has got something to do with ntop? The time it ran this error showed up. I just restarted the server ntop stopped. Will keep monitoring it. Thank you again.

this is not about the "[" it's about the unreachables.

that, sir, is a networking issue. you are losing contact with those sip connected accounts. find out why.

Also thinking same thing. Because I spent 3 days looking for "[" and nothing came up.

BTW the "[" not valid host issue will come out first, then the phones will be come unreachable for maybe 10 seconds then reachable again, some live calls are not affected even if i saw on my monitoring that their softphones became unreachable. This is driving me nuts...

unreachable means that a round trip packet was rejected or too late returning. the asterisk server "polls" the agent's phones on a timed basis to check their status.

pure networking issue. router/switch needs replacement or someone is hammering your network on a regular basis.

see if you can correlate these events with any other events or physical pathways.

of course, it could also be a problem with the asterisk server (failing network card?).

fail2ban or some other firewall issue. you could try shutting down the firewall the next time it happens to see if that stops it from happening.

You're right this site has been very helpful, I started using VICIbox with nothing, zero and now I've been using it for 6 years now, have 4 boxes running. Willing to share and help out.
Regarding my issue on [, we are still monitoring it, made some changes on our network side, so far so good. no errors showing up. Will keep you guys posted.

yup... i already checked all those "host" words, i can't find error "[", the odd thing is if I accidentally put "[' it will give error constantly.
sometimes the warning sign is not showing up. its random, don't know when it will show up again.

That's an important detail, sounds like a bug then.

I took a look at the code

So I guess its the maddr variable that looks weird.
and that variable is from the via header from the phone that register

install ngrep-sip if you aint got it already and run it like this:
ngrep-sip 'maddr'
and you might see some sip packages and maybe you will see a weird maddr value and where it comes from

check maybe if you have a problem with your lan card on the server. try creating a new backup server and see if you have the same issue. I always check my other server (single server) if one server is throwing a lot of errors.

UPDATE! This is Server error. Now I am using the Latest Release of Vicibox. Error showed up again on old server, but the new box is ok. Both server are running at the same time.
