Small SVN Upgrade

Hi All,

Vicibox Cluster Install | ViciBox Redux v.4.0.3 | SVS 2020 | HP DL320 | Asterisk 1.4.44-vici

I want to upgrade a box (for the first time) so I just want to confirm that if I am upgrading within major versions, that is I am staying on 2.X, just going up the SVN then I don't have to update the DB schema?

That is the impression that I get when reading,
viewtopic.php?t=16326
and the UPGRADE document in the src folder.

So it's just:
1) Backup
2) Checkout SVN
3) Install?

The database schema is constantly changing. Always check you database schema in Admin -> System Settings matches the last update to the schema in the upgrade_2.X.sql document in the extras directory of the source code. If they do not match, rerun the upgrade doc. You may have to run multiple different upgrade_2.X.sql documents to get there. Start with the version that matches your System Setting and go till you have exhausted them all. So for instance your current code could be using a database schema version from in the upgrade_2.4.sql and the version the code you are using might be in upgrade_2.8.sql. You would run the upgrade_2.4.sql, the upgrade_2.6.sql, and then the upgrade_2.8.sql.

Thanks for the post. I just want to make sure I understand you.

The upgrade_2.8.sql script will change the DB schema as required and I can us it as long as my current schema number is somewhere in there.

That is, the lowest schema currently in the 2.8 file is 1349. My current schema is 1355, therefor I can use this file.

The highest schema version number in the 2.6 file is 1347, so for my system it is safe to ignore this file because I am already ahead of it?

It comes down to in which schema bracketing your system falls?
2.4[1194 - 1316]
2.6[1318 - 1347]
2.8[1349 - 1359 (as on 2013-10-22)]

You start in that bracket and work your way up?
