VICIBOX Not using all the Disk Space

Postby ambiorixg12 » Sat Nov 23, 2013 2:48 pm

I installed ViciBox5.i686-5.0.3.iso (Asterisk 1.8.23.0-vici ). But I think that is not using all the available Hard drive space i have 500GB, but i don't see it, why is this ?

This is my hard Disk
Code: Select all
#  fdisk -l | grep Disk
Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0004986b
Disk /dev/mapper/system-root: 10.7 GB, 10737418240 bytes
Disk /dev/mapper/system-swap: 2147 MB, 2147483648 bytes

During your installation the HD was probably pre-formatted or you modified it in some way ... OR ... perhpas you have an "odd" HD configuration and the installer "guessed" in some way (virtual/logical drive?).

At any rate, it would appear your root partition is only 10G. Kinda small.

You can attempt (using any one of many available utilities) to enlarge that partition. Or you can re-install and watch for the partition options. Or you can use fdisk to create new partitions and move all your data onto those new partitions (for any data area that would enlarge ... such as /var and /srv and /usr). You could create a 50G partition for each of /var and /srv and move all data from those two into them ... and then wait to see if any other folders need to be moved as well. Or you could perform a search to see which folders on the drive are already large enough to warrant their own partition ...

You'd end up with an odd system that way, but it would still operate just like it does now, pretty much. Just a bit unusual to configure ... (easier to reinstall in my opinion, but I like to recommend several installs ... never fear the reinstall! once you get used to the installation, you relax a little more about how easily Vicidial can be to rebuild when needed!)
