I did some testing by using a millisecond stopwatch to test three scenarios when using vicidial agent interface (for each of these scenarios I did three samples each):
Scenario 1: Time between me answering my phone (pretending to be a customer) to when I can hear sound coming through the connection
Scenario 2: Time between me answering my phone to when the recording starts (when the recording file name changes on the interface - which also coincides with when the recording starts - i tested this as well)
Scenario 3: Time between me answering my phone to when the green "LIVE CALL" status shows at the top of the agent interface.
My results are:
Scenario 1: 1.775 s, 1.974 s, 1.796 s
Scenario 2: 3.548 s, 3.313 s, 3.288 s
Scenario 3: 1.923 s, 1.923 s, 1.829 s
I then did a separate test making a call directly through Asterisk using my softphone and repeating Scenario 1 in this situation. My results were: 2.17 s, 1.932 s, 1.985 s
So there is a 1.7 - 2 second delay from when the customer picks up his phone to when the call can be heard by the agent (regardless whether using Vicidial or using the softphone to call directly). Then there is an additional 1.5 - 1.75 second delay from when the call can be heard to when the recording actually records.
Lastly I tested a regular phone call being recorded through Vicidial. I called a friend of mine and when he picked up the phone I could clearly hear him say "Hi, apples bananas and oranges are my favorite fruits". I made this same call three times and then listened to the recordings that were generated. All three recordings played as "are my favorite fruits".
I also tested with a backup trunk and the data was much the same.
