No ring in manual dialing

Postby saulortega » Thu Jan 16, 2014 12:28 pm

Hello.

The agents don't hear the ring in a manual call.

I have seen several topics here about it, but none works for me.

Dialing from a softphone registered in Vicidial server I can hear the ring.

I already tried with "r" and "R" in the dial plan.

It occurs in all sistems that I have installed, in Vicidial versions 2.6 and 2.8.

This works: http://www.eflo.net/VICIDIALforum/viewt ... 208#p94732

But it is a "fake". The numbers out of service, for example, ring too.

I tried with carriers IAX2 and SIP. On both occurs the same.

Implement below dialplain:-

exten => _999.,1,AGI(agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log)
exten => _999.,2,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN:3}@CARRIER_NAME,,otT)
exten => _999.,3,Hangup

exten => _999.,1,AGI(agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log)
exten => _999.,2,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN:3}@CARRIER_NAME,,tToR)
exten => _999.,3,Hangup

Try this one instead , note the capital R in the dial plan "tToR"

This works for me. There is a slight issue with the ringing continuing for a few seconds after the dial timeout dialogue box pops up, but otherwise it's fine.

The entire point of this concept is this: If your carrier does not supply a ring, then you will not hear a ring unless YOU supply the ring. But if you are supplying it, then it is fake and you will hear a ring regardless of whether there actually is a ring happening.

the upper case "R" is only valid if BriStuff is installed and functional.

You can, of course, try another carrier ...

ahh ok , thank you for the clarification William, still trying to get a handle on how these dial plans are executed. This also clears up a small issue of the phone ringing and then the "call never goes through" I have been hearing sporadically from my agents. I take it BriStuff is bundled in the newest vicibox install iso? When I added the R it started generating the ring.

Need to find some time to troll through asterisk-guru forums and get a better understanding of how dialplans are structured.

Or you could write a module for asterisk that catches "... progressing ..." in the sip communications stream which could indicate "ringing" without an audible sound. Then convert that "signal" to a ring and you're on. Technically, however, some of those "progressing" calls turn out to be disconnected numbers because they are actually ringing through to an auto-agent that will play the "the number you have reached" recording.

Ringing works perfectley here - but since upgrade to ver. 2.8-426a BUILD: 140214-1643 and Asterisk 1.8.25.0-vici the Busytone is gone...
No hint is given that the line is busy...
How do I get my Busy tone back?

I would probably start by opening a thread with that topic (and perhaps reference this one as possibly related).

then I would try a virtualized system with the same specs and see if Vicibox and/or GoAutoDial stock installs experience the same issue. If they do not ... you'll need to find the difference between those installs and yours. If it does experience the same issue, then everyone else would likely be able to help out. :)

Ups,

I forgot to mention that I used a Vicibox-ISO 5.0.3 to install VD SVN Rev: 2074 - DB Schema Version: 1369 updated from DB Schema Version: 1337.

Everything else works very fine

When you say "upgraded" I take that to mean you at least brought forward your DB from a prior install (if not the rest of the scripts, possibly including customizations ...).

In which case i still recommend a stock install of Vicibox without upgrade or customization (virtual is fine for a test) and see if that install experiences the same issue.

And I also still recommend a fresh thread with a suitable subject line as this one does not have even the word "busy" in it. Remember that this is not just for you, it is for all future users of this forum who may have a similar problem. If we get figure out your problem here on this thread with the wrong subject line, the solution could well be lost and we'd have to take the next guy through the same rigamarole 13 months from now when he COULD have found the answer with a more appropriate subject line (without the 'lucky google momen" being required ...LOL) .

And please note that this is an Asterisk issue primarily. Vicidial is not the engine that determines sound throughput. And in the case of "ring/busy tone", that is sent by your provider, as a rule (and sent to them by the telco receiving the call). Many soft phones and some PBX's will "fake it" based on feedback, but this can result in something like a ring tone followed by a "disconnect" notice or a busy signal when in fact there was no ring.
