Statuses (e.g.: Completed, Unworkable, Not interest, DNC)

I just wanted to confirm whether my understanding of the system statuses is correct.

I believe the Unworkable, Not interested, and Completed statuses all make the lead undialable in the future, but do not put it on the DNC list whereas the DNC status will do both?

Also, is there a way to add new statuses other than the 9 or so that are already there?

Unworkable, Not interested, and Completed status flags are only used for reporting and have no dialing functional restrictions of actions.
