hi
i had installed slackware 10.2 with kernal 2.4.31
now i installed all the softwares given in the scratch install
but when i install mysql 4.0.27
it shows error in CPAN prompt while trying this command----------
locate -u
the error is---------------
cpan> install O/OY/OYAMA/Net-MySQL-0.08.tar.gz
Running make for O/OY/OYAMA/Net-MySQL-0.08.tar.gz
Is already unwrapped into directory /root/.cpan/build/Net-MySQL-0.08

You need to run locate -u in the linux shell not the cpan shell

i try it on linux prompt too
but then it does nothing and cursor moves to next line
any other solution!!!

what are you trying to locate?
locate -u just creates a locate database that helps with debuggin of installation issues, it does not output anything by itself.

hiii....
i m in scratch_installation phase 3.2 and doing 10th step where i have to replace the
0.09 version of MySQL.pm with the 0.08 version which is MySQL 4.0.X compatible:
i followed these steps....
cpan
- install O/OY/OYAMA/Net-MySQL-0.08.tar.gz
or you can use the version included with the astguiclient release:
- locate -u
but when i am using locate -u command an error occured....
cpan> locate -u
Unknown shell command 'locate -u'. Type ? for help.
plzzz help me out...

you do not have to run locate -u if the Net::MySQL 0.08 installed properly then you are ok.

Hi
Now i have installed fresh slackware 10.2 with custom kernal((2.4.31)
also i had compile my kernal
but when i try to install perl module i.e., phase 3.1
i get this error

Please list the packages you selected when you installed Slackware initially.
does cpan work if you just type "cpan"?

we give full install option while installing slackware.(acc. to scratch install)
also by giving CPAN in cmd prompt.
it shows same error
