Are you using G729 licenses or crack?

Same problem was with me when I have used G729 with crack on my server. I got license of G729 from Digium. $10 per channel approx. With licenses my problem has been solved.

There is no "crack", there is only the bootleg (which is compiled from a different source, not cracked). It functions exactly the same and is compiled from nearly identical sources, but it's not properly licensed for any nation that adheres to copyright laws. But it WORKS exactly the same (a little better sometimes because it does not check license restrictions before making the call! LOL).

But: Two cores 1.8 Ghz is a little light to attempt g729. You should have Four cores and be at 2.3Ghz or higher.

Why are you using g729? Low bandwidth from the agents to the vicidial server or from the vicidial server to the carrier? (or both?)

Is this system leased or hosted or at your location?

low bandwidth 512 m bits and thats why i am using this... its cracked i think some one gave it to me. server is at my location.what if i use core i3 and 2 gb of ram, do u think its because of low speed of processor? as i mentioned when i use softphone manually sound is good, and when i use ulaw alaw its also good, but when i use g729 it creates prob,
let me tell you something the carrier that i am using with g729 it only allows to g729 we cant use any other codec i use alaw and ulaw with other carrier which is www.Rapidvox.com

that's a tough call. it's possible that it's your bandwidth or your cpu or your memory or your carrier.

I must also note that core i3 means nothing. it's just a brand name. Core Count and Speed makes a difference, the name on the box does not.

I would recommend (as I said) FOUR cores at 2.3Ghz or above. 2G RAM is kind of a "given".

You could always lease a machine for a month and get your system working smoothly while you "work that out" (perhaps you'll make enough money to pay for the new server ...). Also, a hosted system will have virtually unlimited bandwidth. Then all YOU need is enough bandwidth for your agents to get to the dialer. The rest is handled by the host (all those connections to prospects). This also allows you to have multiple locations, since your server is no longer local. You can hit it from anywhere. Just a thought. :)

ok let me tell you something when i do manual call from softphone connnected with server by dialing a number manually result is good but when agent logs in and dialer blasts the call then quality of voice is little low so what you say its bcz of my low speed serve with less cores or its bandwith issue

during the "bad quality" call, you have everything in use. so it could be anything. did you try this with a single call (instead of a blast)? if so ... bring it up slowly and see where it breaks up. but still, the breakup could be just about anything with that system.

try htop and see if your system is overloading.

You first need to know where you got the g729 from. If it is purchased from Digium it is not as you can just 'move them to your server'. There is a pretty aweful proceedure to move licenses from one server to the other when these are purchased. If you just moved an .so file from one place to the other, then yes..., you have the *alternate* g729 library. Now this alternate comes pre-compiled for different architectures (eg. 64bit or 32-bit, Pentium3, Pentium2 or SPARC etc) and also comes compliled for two different compilators: gcc or icc.

To find out if you have a digium license run
Code: Select all
g729 show license

or something around there. You'll have to play with it. I don't have a licensed server anymore so I can't really check. On the other hand if you don't have the 'pay-for-this-codec' version the only option you have on the cli is
Code: Select all
g729 debug

If you have an unlicensed version, make sure you are getting the correct version, build, compiler binary. You can get them off of this site: asterisk (dot) hosting (dot) lv --Replace '(dot)' with '.'-- Setup instructions are there. If the problem persists then ask your vendor what brand of equipment they are using o the equipment where you are terminating your calls. The g729 codec has many flavors (annexes) to it: a, b, j, etc. Asterisk's G729 only supports A or B. I had problems with a Cisco media server because it only 'talks' G729.r8..., incompatible with asterisk's g729.

If the problem persists, check server load, cpu performance more specifically.
