Australian Answer Machine Detection

Postby awaken88 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 3:49 am

Hey Guys,

I'm sure this topic has been covered / talked about many times (Searched for heaps, read lots but nothing has helped!)

Just trying to see if theres some miracle settings that can help reduce the amount of answering machines that are forwarded to our consultants?

I've currently tried a few different things, along with editing the amd.conf, setting call time to 21sec and a long list of other things.

I'm not sure if theres a 'code' that would be sent from the carrier, or how to tell what telco is coming through as answer machine and not being picked up.

All the numbers we're dialing ARE Australian mobiles, and most times we don't hear the *beep* just a flat empty line.

(Not sure if its also possible people are hanging up? Is there a long pause before the call is transferred?)

It seems the AMD is picking up about 50% of the answering machines so far, but the lists we are dialing seem to have about 70-80% Answering machines total.

I'm very new to ViciDial and have gone over the managers manual, just know there has to be some other tweaks out there!

NB. I've emailed (sangoma?) in regards to the 'paid' system for detecting answering machines, never heard anything back? Unsure if its something that is still used etc?

Cheers for any helps and tips guys!

Specs: Asterisk 1.8, ViciDial 2.9 - GoAutoDial 3.

Server 2 x 2.6ghz Dual Core Xeons, 12GB Ram (Dell PowerEdge R300) - Never any load on server :)

Two solutions. Either continue doing tweaks to your amd.conf file in asterisk OR get the Sangoma Call Progress Detection card for asterisk.

You could also create an agi that can help you with Answering Machine Detection, but it may be unwise since you can already use amd.conf

Hi GaD,

I've emailed Sangoma in regards to their product 3 times now and have not received a response..

Gets a little frustrating.

Can edits to the amd.conf increase the drop rate?

Regards,

Richard

Yes, it could increase your drop rate.

Regarding Sangoma, you could ask your local retailer....
http://mbit.com.au/
http://voip-australia.net/sangoma-c-47.html

Or an international seller, here's one of my favorites...

Maybe they can answer your questions or get Sangome to respond to them.... ;)

Good luck!
