Agent Change Password

Postby mav2287 » Fri Apr 11, 2014 4:56 pm

Has anyone ever done any code that would allow and/or force the agents to change their password. For example an "agent must change at next login" and/or agent must change every 30/60/90 days? This would occur when they login to vicidial.php then force them to re-login once they update it.

For agents? No, for admin users? Yes.

Believe it or not, most of our clients have agents all using the same passwords.

I'm sure that is a function that could be added, but nobody has even requested that as a feature before you.

Wow, I am surprised most have the same password. I would think they wouldn't want the agents to login as each other. We wanted to let agents change their own password so we can ensure they don't login as each other.

Would this be real difficult to write?

Speaking as someone who sets all the agent passwords the same, I've found it to be a non-issue. If they log in as each other they kick each other out (ViciDIAL wont let a user login twice to the agent interface) so it's fairly obvious what's going on. Additionally if they log in as another agent who isn't on, all their stats get attributed to another agent, this is a massive disincentive when there's commission on the sales. :)

If the agents are not hotseating, they generally have a shortcut on the desktop that contains everything (including Phone/Phone Pass) except their password. We usually set that to the last four of their personal phone number or a number that popped into the manager's head when that workstation was being built. This avoids the confusion of bouncing out the other agent because they typed "2003" instead of "2002" and didn't realize it. Annoying the agent next to you from a silly mistake can cause disruption that's not necessary. But yes, there are still a lot of rooms even here that insist on having the same password across the board (which they change when they fire someone particularly creepy).

Agent password resets could be a pre-emptive strike during login (check for reset flag, bounce to the reset page ... then bounce them back as a post where they started when the password is changed). Probably two to four hours in all (IMHO), if you are using latest Vicidial which already has a force-password-reset preference.

I may do some work on this then, we have a server that is used for collection calls. The reason they want a unique password for each agent is that they are huge on high security. They are worried an agent may login as someone else and cause problems as a result. I will post back if I get something working. I was thinking of using the password reset preference to trigger it as well.

I appreciate the link, but I think you may be confused on the work I was planning. The idea was to have them change the password when they login to the agent login screen. This way there is no need to enter or use the admin login.
