Local channel not created after answering call

Postby nysander » Tue Jul 29, 2014 4:17 pm

I have installed plain vicibox 6.0 server and test on it two usb dongles. I got problem after customer answers call it is connected to agent but conference channel (Local) it is not created.

as a result is that agent cannot hungup call and message "Customer has hung up" after 33 seconds on every call. Call is going on and customer is the only one who can hung it. This behaviour was not visible on goautodial plain install as I have in signature.

below I post screenshot from agent screen after answering call by customer.

goo.gl/ZPA86z <<<<<<< I cannot attach url / image

I do not know which logs could help in debuging this problem. So please write.

I hope you can help me as it is not possible for me now to put this box on production.

I can add that when I make manual call Local channel is created and open whole time the call is on. Call is not disconnected until end. Hunging it up works from both sides.

I have also testing campaign on manual dialing (above was manual entering number and press dial) and it is also working without problem, local is created. I can end it when I want.

so problem is in autodialing mode.

In debug logs I have found that Local channel is marked as ZOMBIE just after creation and hang up is send to it

but in meetme conference call is visible

Code: Select all
Conf Num       Parties        Marked     Activity  Creation  Locked
8600051        0002           N/A        00:01:53  Static    No
* Total number of MeetMe users: 2

after call is closed by customer parties changes to 1

not really prepared to read that much information.

could you post JUST the relevent asterisk cli? from one "good" and one "bad" call. start at the moment the call starts, and end when it ends. probably 20 lines for each call.

Re: Local channel not created after answering call

Cool, but I didn't ask for "more" (ie: not yet interested in agi debugging) and I did ask for a "good" and a "bad" preferably segregated for easy identification and comparison.

Also: Why 8365 instead of 8368 (default)?

Also: Did you test this with SIP before moving on to Dongle?

yes I have tested sip and it was working ... till today ... today is broken and I have no idea why (just turned it off in carriers and reloaded sip / dialplan) so today I have no good call log unfortunatelly. Tomorrow I will be debugging sip.

I have tested 8368 8367 8365 and on every of it result was the same.

I will provide current SIP good log as fast as possible but tomorrow, late night in my timezone now.

I didn't ask for a current good sip log. I asked for a good and bad example of dongle for comparison to one another. I also asked if you had used sip (in an outbound campaign) to be sure your dialer works properly aside from your dongle issue.

probably during finding some solution to make work both carriers I've broken whole config. I need to restore it and then I will paste working SIP (good) and then probably not working (bad) Dongle as it was after initial(plain clean) vicidial setup before.

ok William, I had to remove old configuration and start from plain vicibox config. results are the same. SIP works, Dongle not. Below are my results.

calls made one by one from plain vicibox configuration/database

same config, same campaign with one customer phone number (115 leads for test purposes), same campaign caller id (from SIP provider)

between connections only change was turning carriers on-off to use only one of them, then sip reload, dialplan reload,

GSM carrier added as SIP as there is no other option to set this. but only dialplan in it is configured, no other options (they are in dongle.conf file)

DIALPLANS:

SIP:

Code: Select all
exten => _915.,1,AGI(agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log)
exten => _915.,n,SIPAddHeader(X-Fid: ${SIPCALLID})
exten => _915.,n,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN:5}@ipfon,30,tTo)
exten => _915.,n,Hangup

GSM (Dongle):

Code: Select all
exten => _915.,1,AGI(agi://127.0.0.1:4577/call_log)
exten => _915.,n,Dial(Dongle/g1/${EXTEN:5},20,Ttor)
exten => _915.,n,Hangup

visible differences are:
1. SIP connection is visible on agents screen "LIVE CALLS IN YOUR SESSION" as second position named SIP/ipfon
2. GSM there is no such position
3. both connections are sound connected
4. SIP connection is in full agent control for whole time
5. GSM connection is in full agent control for about 15 seconds, after this time only customer can end call, agents button does not disconnect.
6. after 33 seconds (everytime) GSM connection on agents screen is marked as "customer has hung up" - even though connection is still live and agent can talk to customer. clicking go back and hung up does nothing.

thank you William and others for interest in this problem, I hope for response.

now it's finally time to sleep :)

1) good dongle cli
2) bad dongle cli
so i can compare those two AND to demonstrate that two way sound actually works on the dongle (without two-way sound, vicidial will NOT send the call to an agent)

and include the call from start all the way to hangup.

does your asterisk version match the admin->servers version listed for the server?

As a test, you should try to put your dongle devices on another asterisk server that is pure asterisk and works with the dongle properly. then connect to that server via sip (essentially turning that 2nd server into a "dongle appliance" unrelated to Vicidial).

Nice thing about that is that other vicidial servers could also use those connections and you have removed the "hardware" requirement from your vicidial server. This could aid in upgrade stability as well.

to the post above difference is that in "LIVE CALLS IN YOUR SESSION" I have "Local/...." channel created and 2way sound works as previously.

So I confirm that 2 way sound works in both MANUAL and AUTODIAL but in latter channel is not visible on agent's screen

in vicidial I have version 1.4.21.2 installed is 1.8.29.0-vici, after change to correct version situation did not changed

that is good Idea to make dongle server unrelated to vicidial, but I have no hardware atm so I will try to test this making dongle server on vmware player appliance.

will be good plain vicibox OS before vicibox-express installation?

how can I sip-trunk/iax-trunk this both servers with each other? as I have not done such thing before.

William,

I have installed on vmware plain vicibox (without vicidial-express) and configured it as carrier for dongles - name it gsm-gateway. Attached the two from my signature. On vicidial side I have added new SIP carrier and pointed to gsm-gateway.
And it WORKED !!!!!!!!!! without any problem, almost out of the box ...

I did not setup inbound connections yet but my priority was outbound calling.

so if we did not debug above problems with dongles on same server as vicidial I will buy another server and install this setup on them.

I plan to connect up to 20 dongles to this gateway, will 1x QC e5320 1,86 - 4 GB RAM - 2x 73GB SAS (mirror) will be sufficient for it?

You should consider leaving it on the VM. 20 dongles (20 calls) is not too much traffic for a virtual machine when it's not running meetme rooms with hi-res perl timing.

also:
in vicidial I have version 1.4.21.2 installed is 1.8.29.0-vici, after change to correct version situation did not changed
Did you reboot after this to be sure your new settings took effect?

well I did not reboot after change. I will try this. but as I remember from previous tests this value was valid and dongles were not working.

Do you mean setting vicidial on host and gsm-gateway on guest on the same host? atm gateway is set on my own laptop.

I plan such hardware setup:

HP DL380 G5 1x QC e54xx 2,5GHz 8GB RAM 2x146 GB (mirror) 1x PS - for vicidial All In 1
HP DL360 G5 1x QC e53xx 1,86GHz 4GB RAM 2x73 GB (mirror) 1x PS - for gsm-gateway

Is is sense to add second CPU to 1st machine when its price (CPU) is 3/4 of whole 2nd machine - current pricing?

from my experience it is easier to manage USB devices on host than on VM guest but if DL380 G5 will do job for both (even with 2 CPU's) maybe I will go that way.

The goal of virtual: ease of use with less hardware. How you get there is kind of personal. Don't go by my opinion. LOL

And do test after that reboot. The problem in question is odd enough to be related.

I'd still advise having a completely separate machine for the "dongle appliance" for the long-term if possible. It really does mean that if your Vicidial HD dies one day ... you do NOT need to figure out the Dongle situation again. Just re-install the latest Vicidial, restore (and upgrade) your Vicidial DB ... and you're back in business (with a later version of Vicidial!). And yes that also means upgrading can be done any time you get bored. The dongle appliance will be unaffected. This is why many prefer grandstream gateways to PSTN cards directly in the server. makes the Vicidial server "generic hardware" and "generic Vicidial installation". OS and hardware independent is handy as time goes by.
