Postby malik » Sat Jul 04, 2015 8:51 pm

I am in a big mess, and hoping some help from experts here.

I am having problem configuring my carrier (Ringcentral), can make and receive calls on eyebeam without any problem but not able to configure with vicidial. Please help in this regard.

I am using Newest version of Vicibox_v.6.0.x86_64-6.0.3.preload.iso

my setting is like;

register => username:password:authid@199.255.120.146/username

could be you have a firewall enabled thats blocking the sip registration process to the IP its configured to register

I never have used Ringcentral for a carrier to dial on. However I will say this... If you have a static IP I would personally do IP based authentication rather than sip registration. Nothing wrong with sip registration but someone can compromised your credentials and run your usage up. Least with IP based authentication you control your hardware, passwords, and hopefully be able to catch an incident quick before the bill racks up.

1) ALWAYS post your Vicidial Version with Build. While you did post your installer version, that IN NO WAY tells us what version of Vicidial you are using.

2) "insecure=very" has been deprecated and is now no longer valid, yet you have at least one sip account trying to use it. You should resolve that while you're here. Change it to "insecure=port,invite" instead.

3) I am unaware of a registration string allowing username:password:authid instead of just "user:password" at the start. Perhaps you should check with ring central on that topic and see what they expect.

4) Please describe the reason for your "from proxy" as I suspect it may be related to your issue. Are you using a proxy sip service somewhere?

5) Why "nat=yes"? Is your server behind a router on a private IP or does it have a public IP? If so, do you have port forward applied to your router to cause your previously configured phone to work? (if so, whatever you did to make that phone work could be blocking Vicidial).

Hi William,

Vicidial VERSION is : 2.12-485a.

They (Rincentral) always use Auth ID to configure the device, I have checked with them. Proxy is required to make outbound calls as it was there in Eyebeam, without proxy it wasnt registering with eyebeam.

Its not behind any router and Its on a static IP not on a Public IP.

Of course they use it, but the format is the question. I've never seen "username:password:authid" (from your example of "register => username:password:authid@199.255.120.146/username" which has username in two places!) and doubt that's how they expect to see it. Have they provided you with a sample registration string? I would expect something more like "register => authid:password@199.255.120.146/username"

If it's not behind a router it must have a public IP. It can not have a private IP without a router (the router provides the private IP). It must have either a private IP or a public IP to be connected to the internet.

Please be clear when you discuss IPs and be sure to identify the IP of your Router vs the IP of the Vicidial server. There seems to be some confusion here. Are you certain that your Vicidial server has access to the internet? Can you PING public web servers such as irs.gov with the vicidial server?

Ask RingCentral for a Registration String.
