Why asterisk utilization is high.

Does it related to codec conversion as carrier are on G729 codec and Ip phone are using Ulaw

I would say reboot your server at the earliest and then monitor cpu utilization in production if cpu utilization is same then seriously think about upgrading your server or make cluster, would love to know the updates :-)

Also want to know what dial level you have set (how many lines you are dialing per agent)?

Obviously transcoding utilizes much cpu so it would be better if you separate your telephony server.

Its inbound Dialer Max 15 calls at a time rest agent sit idle Max agent login is 35-40. Calls come on SIP trunking . Might be it due to transcoding iam not sure as i never saw such issue in . I developed customize CRM that iam using with Goautodial 2.1 upgrading the server mean rebuilting CRM that i can't do right now.

g729 is a CPU killer. There are cards you can install to offload the g729 processing, but we don't have any experience with them. If you can stop using g729, you should see the load decrease dramatically.

You could look at adding more servers to your Vicidial to make a cluster.

Vicidial clustering is best done with Vicibox instead of Goautodial, but it's still possible on goautodial just not as easy. Look for the Vicidial Multi-Server Manual. We wrote it, and it was written back when the version of Vicidial you are presently using was "The Latest". LOL

Also worthy of note: If you are using AMD or Survey campaigns, you can also add a lot of load to the server pretty quickly, since you said your calls are inbound that should not be the case, but I thought I'd mention it. 8-)

meetme room always uses ulaw. thus g729 is never "all the way", transcoding is always necessary. There is no "pass through" for a Vicidial server of g729 or any other codec than ulaw unless the call never gets to an agent.
