Port Forwarding

Postby Jeff1991 » Tue Aug 18, 2015 8:24 pm

Hi,

I'm using a simple router and my server is connected in LAN port as well as my agent's workstation. I don't make any special configuration and can access GoAutodial Portal Admin page.
But I was having a hard time making a call. I see in the forum that I need port 5060 to be forwarded as well as port 10000-20000. My question is how could I check if its already forwarded or not? Please help. Thanks!

1) Welcome to the Party! 8-)

2) As you are obviously new here, I have some suggestions to help us all help you:

When you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

This IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

3) Outbound calls do not require port forwarding, as a rule.

But if you have your server on a private network (ie: just like all your other computers using that router), you may need to modify sip.conf (/etc/asterisk/sip.conf) and put the PUBLIC IP of the router into the "externip" value. And reload asterisk (or reboot if you're not sure).

4) Also: If port 5060 IS forwarded (by someone specifically doing this on your router some time in the past, it's never an accident or default setting), you may need to UNforward it by deleting that setting.

5) Inbound calls, on the other hand, may require port forwarding if your carrier does not allow "registration" (which can often remove the need for forwarding).

6) Are you sure you want to use Goautodial instead of Vicibox.com's .iso installer? Vicibox is recommended, supported by The Vicidial Group, and has more recent code. It can also be used to install a Multi-Server Vicidial Cluster in addition to being very easy to upgrade to the most recent version of Vicidial (daily, if you like). Installation PDF on the Vicibox.com website. Then use the Vicidial Manager's Manual for configuration. Much larger support base. Just sayin' ... 8-)

Happy Hunting! 8-)
