INBOUND and IVR

Postby killah » Sat Jan 30, 2016 10:46 pm

hi everyone
i read that in internet
"""""""""Each local DID has a monthly fee. You will need at least one trunk (call path) in order for a DID to work. With SIPStation trunks, we offer free calling to the lower 48 U.S. states and Canada. Calls to other locations have per-minute fees as defined in our...( ....)"""""""""""
im gonna make an inbound configuration i have 3questions:

1-did i need a DID number to test an inbound call or i can just choose and randum number like "123456789" for my configuration?

2-should i have a provider VoIP to test the inbound configurartion?

3-what better platform would you suggest me to deploy my inbound, and IVR configuration

thx everybody

I'm not sure where in the intertubes you read that but generally speaking:

1 - If you need to support real phone calls then you need a real DID number provided by a SIP trunking service. You cannot make up a number and expect it to work. However, if you just need to test inbound configurations in VICIdial, you can register a phone to an existing extension and set the "Phone Context" to "trunkinbound" (without quotes). Then you can make a fake DID in VICIdial (like the random one you gave) and "call" it from the phone. VICIdial will treat it like an inbound call.

2 - Number one above pretty much answers this as well. If you need to support inbound telephony then you will need a VoIP service. It needs to be a SIP trunk and not something like MagicJack.

3 - I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. If you want to know a carrier, we don't make specific recommendations. There's too many out there, each with their own pro's and con's. If you're asking what dialing plaform, well, VICIdial of course :D
