Minimum Specs for tele server

Postby Jrodd » Fri Mar 18, 2016 6:09 pm

Hello everyone long time reader first time poster here! :P I was curious about two things. What are the bare minimum hardware needed to run a proper tele server of 20 users at a 4:1? My follow up question is what is everyone's go to hardware specs for their tele servers?

There is no reliable method for such a calculation, as your usage will differ from the rest of the world. LOL

that being said: Normally a quad-core 2.3+ Ghz server with 2G Ram will suffice for 25 agents @ 2.5:1. However: The number of agents will be reduced by such things as higher dialing, recording all calls, g729 codec, AMD, and pretty much every setting in admin->servers (although many settings are minor and technical ... every little thing counts).

At that point it really depends on whether you can get hardware matching those specs at a reasonable price. If you intend to Grow in the future, you may want to consider that your database will be installed on your first server and the database server should always be the most powerful server in the cluster as you grow. Thus getting an @ss kicker now as your first (DB) server could be helpful down the line. Adding new servers is easier than attempting to relocate the DB onto a new server. In that case, a nice 8-core server with 8G or 16G (or more) RAM and 15k SAS drive (in RAID 10 if you can handle it) can make expansion much simpler when it happens.
