Setting the correct Timezone for Australia

Postby HotDot » Mon Aug 29, 2016 9:15 pm

Hi,

Can you help us how to set the timezone to Australia? How do we change the timezone tables under Call Time Settings which are all currently set to U.S.?

Thank you and hope to hear a response.

1) Welcome to the Party! 8-)

2) As you are obviously new here, I have some suggestions to help us all help you:

When you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method (7.X.X?) and vicidial version with build (VERSION: 2.X-XXXx ... BUILD: #####-####).

This IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "manual/from scratch" you must post your operating system with version (and the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system) plus a link to the installation instructions you used. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

3) Admin ->Call Times are not "time zone specific". They are universal. However, they are used in several places in the system. For instance:
* When you choose a call time from the dropdown for "Local Call Time" in a Campaign: you are asking the system to call prospects when the local time at the prospect's location is within the hours specified. But if you choose a call time in a Call Menu, you are specifying that the call menu "off hours" be activated based on the time of the Server (which is, if I recall, a combination of the System Time and the Time Zone for the server under Admin->Servers).

4) It would appear likely that you need to load the necessary time zone tables for Australia so that the Lead Loader and the nightly TZ updater script can tell what numbers belong in which time zones. The US tables are auto-loaded during installation (as this is a US based project). I believe The Vicidial Group sell some international tables, but if you are so inclined, you can check the tables in question and add the entries yourself. The system is capable of matching the first few digits of the Phone Number (as the "Area Code" in the US) to determine time zone and there is also a method for Postal Code. There may also be a method for State. It's not particularly difficult, but could be time-consuming if you don't have access to pre-built tables with the proper data or are not adept at conversion of the tables and entry into the Vicidial tables.

5) Of course, it's also useful to set the time zone of the server, which is usually handled during installation but can be changed after the fact. There are many posts about changing the time zone of the server which include setting the time AND zone on the server plus setting the zone for PHP and MySQL (all to the exact same value so they are in sync).
