Answering machine detection not working

Postby velocityvoice » Fri Jul 29, 2016 1:51 pm

Hello

In my campaign settings under routing extension, i have it set to 8369 to turn on answering machine detection so those calls aren't sent to the agents but the agents are getting answering machine calls left and right. Am I missing a step somewhere? I am using Vicidial VERSION: 2.12-552a

1) Welcome to the Party! 8-)

2) As you are obviously new here, I have some suggestions to help us all help you:

When you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method (7.X.X?) and vicidial version with build (VERSION: 2.X-XXXx ... BUILD: #####-####).

This IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "manual/from scratch" you must post your operating system with version (and the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system) plus a link to the installation instructions you used. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

3) That depends a bit on the setting you have configured for What to do in case of an Answering Machine.

4) Asterisk CLI output from a single call (not 3000 lines of unrelated and/or mixed calls, just ONE call that happens to be to an answering machine on purpose with nothing else going on in the dialer during that call).
Vicidial Installation and Repair, plus Hosting and Colocation

For the record you should never (in any forum for any project) use the phrase "latest version". Always explicitly list the version of the software and/or installer. If it turns out that your version of goautodial does not have a patch necessary for AMD to work, for instance, that would bring other users with the same version of the installer (goautodial) to your post quickly.

That being said: I can see in your code that ANSWERING MACHINE occurs, but there is a whole lot of other code happening in there and the agi debug is not on. I'd suggest you either switch to Vicibox's .iso installer (and then copy and upgrade your database to bring your existing setup along for the ride) or you try again with ONE call to a known answering machine with agi debug on and see what happens with that one call on one vicidial lead record. No other traffic, nice controlled environment to make it easier to read the resulting code. Even turn off all other phone registrations to really reduce the CLI clutter if you can.

Could be interesting. 8-)

PS: Don't get me wrong, I am not saying there *is* a patch necessary for AMD. I don't actually remember, since I've never had someone with "ANSWERING MACHINE" in the CLI, but no AA result in the list. What exactly are your settings for the Campaign, especially those related to AMD?

In my campaign settings under routing extension, i have it set to 8369 to turn on answering machine detection so those calls aren't sent to the agents but the agents are getting answering machine calls left and right. Am I missing a step somewhere? I am using Vicidial VERSION: 2.12-552a

AMD is historically unreliable, but when it works those calls do not go to agents unless you have altered the AMD options (which begin at "Answering Machine Message:") to route the calls to an agent at some point instead of terminating the calls.

Depending on your version of Asterisk and/or ViciBOX (the installer), your AMD could be questionably configured and require tweaking. If you have a very old version of asterisk or Vicibox, I would recommend you back up your DB, reinstall, upgrade your DB to the match, and move forward with a newer system with (probably) better AMD.

But before that I have two comments:

1) Don't use AMD. Take it for what it's worth. Been here 10 years. AMD is counterproductive on several fronts.

2) Test AMD on a sandbox server with a fresh install before you rebuild anything! LOL
