Asterisk don't start on start up

I am using RHEL 4 & my asterisk-1.2.17

and i also added asterisk /etc/rc.d/rc.local

when my linux start i can see that asterisk is staring but
it is not started

suggestion is run manually and see any errors

are you loading zaptel driver before asterisk startup script as mentioned in scratch_install, and look again rc.local file.

run it like this as root:

asterisk -vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvgc

watch the messages scrolling by and see if there are any errors.

yes loading zaptel before asterisk startup

do you get any errors when you loading it under boot-sequense with rc.local? Try to start asterisk by using start_asterisk_boot-perl-file in rc.local insted. And don't forget to load your zaptel-modules before asterisk.
