Disconnect outbound calls when no agent is available

Postby elyc1990 » Fri Dec 16, 2016 5:56 am

Hi all, we are running a 5 seated blended vicidial system with a 2:1 ratio dialling for outbound. We have the "available only tally" set to Yes.

Whenever an agent is available, Vicidial dials two numbers. After a call is answered, Vicidial continues to ring the other number. The problem is two folds:
1) Bad client's experience - if the other number gets connected, there's no agent to pick up
2) Unnecessary outbound minutes - we are charged per minute billing :(

Is it possible to set Vicidial to drop ringing to all lines when no agent is available to take calls? Yes, clients get missed calls, but we think it is better than dropped calls.

Here's our vicidial version:
VERSION: 2.12-574a
BUILD: 161106-2058

Thanks!

Vicidial is not designed to do this because what you describe is illegal in the U.S.A.(and several other countries). There is a rule requiring a minimum ring time of 15 seconds on outbound phone calls.

Thanks Matt for your reply.

There's no such regulation in our country. If we were to request for the feature, around how much would it cost?

What you describe is actually pretty complex because it would have to work across all servers in a cluster, and quickly terminate and properly log all ringing calls in a campaign once there are no waiting agents. While this is simple in your example, imagine a campaign with 250 agents dialing 2,000 phone calls on a 12-dialer cluster having to suddenly hang up and disposition all of those ringing calls as soon as the last agent becomes unavailable. As for a quote to add this feature, I'd say 8 hours, which is roughly $1,500.00 USD.

I see. That's a bit out of our budget unless someone would like to share... will look into it again when we grow bigger. Thanks!!
