Http error 500 when using call export report

When I select all user groups for the export call report, I get an HTTP ERROR 500 currently unable to handle this request. I get the same error if I try to use the export report script. if I select a single user group. it works both ways

when you exceed memory, time or other limits in php the system will error out instead of providing the data. Check your apache logs to see which limit you hit. Raise that limit.

Thank you. I increased the memory limit in the php.ini file and the report started working again after a restart
