Custom Fields field type Script special characters

On a fairly new install DB Schema 1566 SVN 3078 the custom field type SCRIPT isn’t allowing some special characters, specifically the $ character. I type it in Field Options but when I click Submit it disappears.

Update: I was able to use phpMyAdmin to update the custom list and add the $ where needed. The vicidial GUI won’t do it though.
