Mariadb Encryption at Rest forVicidial

Just want to know if anyone have configured or enabled the encryption at rest of mariadb on production environment and if there are any drawbacks?

We've had a couple premise clients use encrypted tables for a few of their own non-VICIdial data tables before, but on our VICIhost service we offer encrypted custom fields which are encrypted at-rest outside of the database layer, so they are not encumbered with the issues you can run into using the database to handle the encryption/decryption processes.
