I tested with a softphone that has the external extension as specified under the remote agent setting and while the agent can be seen active in the realtime report i dialed a number from my softphone but it doesn't show up in the stats so i guess the recording is only possible on inbound and not on outbound, is that correct?

There's a special dialplan to record manually dialed calls from phones in admin-> phones.
