Something else is using port 5038 then. run 'ps -A' and make sure that there are no other Asterisk processes running or Zombie.

Looks like the port is locked open somehow. Have you rebooted this server inbetween uninstalling and reinstalling Asterisk.

No, just after completeing my full installation and configurations i have checked it was running well. Then I have used kill command tokill that proccess by using its PID then restarted asterisk manually, it started working, then i have registered my firefly softphone to the asterisk then at last i have tryied tomake calls from it to US,then after i had seen that my manager_custom.conf file is missing. Sudden error occured. and asterisk stoped working. Then i have copied my old manager_custom.conf file from my backup to that folder again and i have tried to start it maunally again but it not started. Finally i have rebooted my system twice but no progress is seen.
please help me

Somehow Asterisk is locking up that port. It might be starting up at bootup and just crashing but not releasing the port. I have never seen that before so I don't know what the problem could be.

At this point I think you woul dbe better off just clearing off your server and doing a fresh Slackware 10.2 Linux install and following the SCRATCH_INSTALL.

I'm not sure what you're asking about DTMF tones and the web form. Could you be more specific?

As for your Dial issue, why not just add a 7 to your Dial string after Zap/g2/

hello nitin,

i got your extensions.conf that u send, i notice that its pretty messed up.
i would suggest to read, follow and understand carefully the scartch install.

dont use aah or trixbox if your not yet very familiar with asterisk.

Hi Marvin,

What do you recommend I use instead of aah or Tribox to make outbound calls using the dialer.

Thanks

atftp is OPTIONAL as it says in the SCRATCH INSTALL.

Do you have a need for a tftp server for your VOIP phones?

hi,
I have tried to upgrade the Kernel 2.4.31 to Kernel 2.6 i got lots of problem, My OS got crashed. Is there any OS which come with default kernel 2.6 and supports your VICIDIALER, since ztdummy does not get installed with kernel 2.4 and i have no timer device attached with my System. In ckware 10.2 can we install kernel 2.6 during the installation phase only without need to be recompiled.

please reply soon.

2.6 kernel is tricky to get working with ztdummy. We did it but it took us several days of kernel rebuilds to get it right on Slackware and that was for a specialized portable platform.

We are working on instructions to do this on normal hardware, but it will not be done for a few weeks at the rate we are going.

just type "x100p" into google and you'll find several companies that sell it. Digium stopped selling them because there were was a lot of competition and the support costs were too much for the price they were selling them at.

I usually get mine off of ebay, but x100p.com is a good source as well.

Error whilst installing MySQL

Postby prabhakar_asterisk » Sun Aug 06, 2006 11:58 pm

Hi
Sorry for mailing again.I encountered the following error while installing MySQL

root@localhost mysql-4.0.27]# scripts/mysql_install_db
Preparing db table
Preparing host table
Preparing user table
Preparing func table
Preparing tables_priv table
Preparing columns_priv table
Installing all prepared tables
060807 10:16:56 /usr/local/mysql/libexec/mysqld: unknown variable 'old_passwords=1'

Installation of grant tables failed!

Examine the logs in /var/lib/mysql for more information.
You can also try to start the mysqld daemon with:
/usr/local/mysql/libexec/mysqld --skip-grant &
You can use the command line tool
/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql to connect to the mysql
database and look at the grant tables:

shell> /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql -u root mysql
mysql> show tables

Try 'mysqld --help' if you have problems with paths. Using --log
gives you a log in /var/lib/mysql that may be helpful.

The latest information about MySQL is available on the web at
http://www.mysql.com
Please consult the MySQL manual section: 'Problems running mysql_install_db',
and the manual section that describes problems on your OS.
Another information source is the MySQL email archive.
Please check all of the above before mailing us!
And if you do mail us, you MUST use the /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqlbug script!

Can anyone let me know how to rectify the problem

THANKS AGAIN

MySQL 4.0.27 does not use old-passwords.

atftp is not required and is only useful if you have hardphones that need to grab firmware from it.

if you are using 4.0.27 then you should not be using old passwords anywhere in your settings or config files.

[prabhu]
type=friend
context=test

my extension file configuration is

I am getting error like Login Timed Out : Contact System Admimistrator in Xlite Soft Phone
I am using the SIP proxy as 192.168.1.151(ipaddress of asterisk):5060
I have tested it in the same system as well as in other windows systems.I am getting the same error.

If in try to reload asterisk I m getting like these

Aug 8 11:18:45 NOTICE[12081]: cdr.c:1191 do_reload: CDR simple logging enabled.Aug 8 11:18:45 NOTICE[12081]: indications.c:505 ast_unregister_indication_country: Removed default indication country 'us'

That is a basic Astersk issue. a timeout means your SIP client cannot contact your Asterisk server. You should make sure you're not going through a firewall and that you can ping one from the other.

hi mflorell
though my asterisk is working properly i have some problem in while configuring apache server
issue :
add the following lines:
"AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml"
"LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.so"
modify the index.html line and add index.php to the list
can u tell me what above line mean and where to modify

this is my error:
/usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl start
Syntax error on line 52 of /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache2/libexec/libphp4.so into server: /usr/local/apache2/libexec/libphp4.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

thanks

run these commands and post results of the second line:

locate -u
locate libphp4.so

What version of php did you install?

[root@localhost ~]# locate libphp4.so
warning: locate: could not open database: /var/lib/slocate/slocate.db: No such file or directory
warning: You need to run the 'updatedb' command (as root) to create the database.
Please have a look at /etc/updatedb.conf to enable the daily cron job.
this is the output

i have installed php-4.4.2 version

it could take several minute for locate -u to run for the first time since it has to catalog your entire filesystem.

locate -u does not output anything, it just returns to the prompt. Did this not happen?
