Play a previous call recording on the current call

Does anyone know of a way to play the recording of a previous call on the current call?

(Please note, this is not "play a generic greeting" MP3 from sounds.)

Is there a way in Vicidial, or other tools you're aware of, to:

1. Start a call normally (typically manual outbound in my scenario)
2. Intro with the customer
3. Play an older call recording (bonus points for starting at specific timestamp)
4. Discuss with customer
5. All while recording this, current, call

Our call recordings currently consume multiple terabytes, so making them all available as normal MP3s in sounds is not an option, to not even talk about identification. They're stored as MP3s on different infrastructure, but are accessible over HTTP and all the Vicidial search & playback features work as we expect.

Any help or pointers will be appreciated.

We have quoted this before, it would be pretty complex to implement, but it is certainly possible. Most clients that need this as an option will just end up have specific agents given the ability to search for leads in the manager web screens and they will play call recordings over their computer speakers to the customer on the phone.

I've been thinking through the use case a bit and discussed more with colleagues.

In our case the full recording wouldn't be played, only a certain piece, meaning that some form of preparation would be required, at the very least to find the start and end positions to play. So playback over PC speakers, while low-tech, is certainly pretty close to home.

I've found a few tools that can play a file over SIP (such as https://github.com/tmakkonen/sipcmd), so I'll experiment with barging in on the conference to play the file.
