The InGroup feature for "Populate Lead Comments" and "Populate Lead Vendor" allow for hard-coding how a new list lead has that field populated. They have just one special option (CALLERID_NAME & INBOUND_NUMBER, respectively).
It seems that mapping the existing lead should be an option...
Wouldn't it make sense to copy field values from existing lead.
So, for example, why not support mapping the existing data fields; so
ExistingLead.comments ==> NewLead.comments

Where exactly would the "old lead" -> "new lead" relationship happen?

Thanks for the response; I'll clarify the scope with the use-case for better clarity-
Use case:
1) Call in is waiting for an agent to be available In-Group -- (referring to lead here as the original list_id lead record)
2) Caller selects Wait Time Option: PRESS_CID_CALLBACK
3) This creates a lead record in Wait Time Option Callback List ID -- (referring to this as the new lead on a designated list_id)

Apologies for not responding to this topic for 2 months, we've been pretty busy here.
This looks like a good Feature Request for you to post on the Issue Tracker.
It will require adding a new option in the Modify In-Group screen, and associated changes on the back-end.
I will also add this to our long un-funded development list.
