select microphone and audio output device in vicidial

Postby bronson » Mon Nov 15, 2021 8:47 am

It would be cool to be able to select the audio output device and microphone from within the vicidial interface. Currently, this is set to whatever the chrome default is so you have to change your chrome audio devices manually. I'd like to be able to play regular browser content (for example a youtube video) on my desktop speakers but listen to calls on my headset. Is this possible?

You should be better off with installing a browser plugin that allows you to use specific audio devices per browser tabs.

Also, talking your way, the feature should be in viciphone and not in the web interface itself. Someone should definitely fork the viciphone and make it that way.

As a workaround I am using firefox browser for vicidial and setting the device audio for firefox within my system settings.

This is the solution. Since the "application" is the web browser, using two different web browsers allows two different audio streams.

The alternate solution would be to Youtube on your phone or a tablet or nest mini or some such. But since there is no "app" for Vicidial it's not likely to be possible just yet.

That being said, I wish someone would put a bounty on it (or hire us), as it does seem like a good idea (for instance) for normal media to emanate from the speakers and ViciPhone to arrive on the headset.

There is an app for vicidial - https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... bile&gl=US

it doesnt have mu h other than realtime screen but it helps, but you can just go to your dialer if its public facing via a chrome browser and get full functionality. Pretty much any smart device you can call from and use the admin area
