I am a part-time IT guy for a company who was wanting to start telemarketing. Before I started working there they paid some guy name Albert who "works" (he is the only person who works there as far as i can tell) who was selling Vicidial (he did list the software as Vicidial) and made NO mention of the fact it was GPL or free software and he was only charging for the install. My company paid him over 16k for the entire setup and basically stole their money. Never showed up with anything at all.

Needless to say, we are taking legal action (already cancelled our credit card and are working with local police here as well as in Ponoma,California where he lives).

I was asked to try and build a dialer for them (not knowing much at all about any of this) and luckily he did list Vicidial on his website as what he uses as his system so I found out about this project this way.

After a week of hell and learning Linux, Asterisk coding, and Vicidial I finally got this thing working and working great.

It truly is an amazing system and my thanks (and on Monday, my donation) go out to everyone who has made this happen.

Anyways, this rant was not for nothing. It seems other people have had nightmare with this person and after reading the topic of this post I would like to point this out to all of you who have put so much hard work into making this amazing tool free.

If Matt and whoever else is wanting to pursue action against him as well for violating the GPL I have all of his information and would be MORE than happy to supply it as well as anything else you might need just email/PM me

Thanks for the posting. I guess I have to go through the lovely ebay dispute process(involving multiple faxes amongst other hurdles) to try to remove this guy. I guesss that's the price of success

Did you ever get anywhere with this? I see he's still listing it. He's also violating the rules against circumvention of fees so I used the report link for that (he says the price is only a down payment and you will pay about $20k total for the system in payments).

I started the process of getting authenticated with ebay so that I could do disputes, but it fell to the side when I got busy one week. I will try to remember to go through with the rest of the ebay hoops to jump through.

MD TECHNOLOGIES is what my contract said
his father
MONTGOMERY DEAN
is the "owner" of the company
or basically he signed the contract
and he is who you sue

I HAVE THE
original source code
the name of the programer
all the conversations albert and i have ever had
the contract
the pos dialer
"which still doesnt work"
the bill and the transactions
where i paid 15 grand for 2 grand worth of equipment
i was told i would have 4 gigs of ram
i had one
i was told 250 gig hdd
mine was 80
these dipshits dont even know how to punch down a block
they are still operating
they change names every year
but i know where albert lives
and his wife
and his dad
and his kids
he promised to return 1500 bucks to me in april
havent seen a dime
he accused me of putting his old company out of business by slandering him all over the web
and since i am out of business
because of my poor choice of dialer provider
i decided to start slandering albert montgomery again
he is a joke
his father is a joke
his company is a joke
the sales guy brent who lived in tempe and now sales the same
junk dialer on his own on ebay is a joke
and if i had the time or thought it would help
i would arange a class action lawsuit
and sue him his father his business partners his programer and basically
everyone involved with this joke of a company
whatever name they are using now
but albert montgomery or albert dean or montgomery dean or whatever fraudulant name they are using today i know of at least 5 people they have screwed out of at least 10 to 40 grand apeice
they have slandered the vicidial software
they have slander asterisks
diggium
and basically
are part of the reason that companies involved with telemarketing have this badguy reputation world wide because of scumbag punk kids like

Ive also heard an incident just like it, theres some IT company here in the Philippines who is modifying vicidial and selling it for like 60000$ or 3Million pesos, sadly the support is poor as hell and its not a modified Vicidial as what they claimed according to their brochures, I know of this because I have already fixed 2 of their deployments here in Manila. There are alot of IT Alligators and scammers in our industry so beware
