Softphone Compatibility

Postby JR » Mon Aug 21, 2006 10:40 pm

We have downloaded Express Talk from:

http://www.asteriskguru.com/tutorials/e ... phone.html

Our telecom providers support SIP and H323 and not IAX. Express Talk seems to be for SIP only - can it work with VICI Dialer? If not, which phone would work the best for us in this case?

Do we need to configure Asterisk for both SIP and IAX in this case?

On our current Softphone, we can dial numbers either by dialing 1 before the 10 digit number or using a 6 digit dial prefix before the 10 digit number (US Number). Do we need to set our Dial plan with the 6 digit dial prefix or can we just use 1 plus the 10 digit number?

Is there a way to confirm that Asterisk is communicating with the softphone? When we try to manual dial by putting the 10 digit number in the manual dial text box click dial in Vici Dialer- nothing happens - we don't even get an error message. How do we confirm that the Softphone and Asterisk/Dialer are communicating. Do you think we may have missed something in the SIP phone configuration in Scratch_Install?

Appreciate your feedback.

Thanks
JR

Please post your Asterisk CLI output when you try to place a call.

Is your SIP phone registering with your server?
