Redfone PRI Gateway: are they compatible?

Postby DarknessBBB » Sun Feb 24, 2008 8:05 am

Hello everybody,
I was looking for a gateway for our E1 lines, and I've find a redfone product
http://www.red-fone.com/Products/fonebridge2/
that uses "native Asterisk™ TDMoE format and utilities".
It looks very interesting but, is it compatible with Vicidial?

If not, a Patton 4960 will be?

Thank you very much!

It should work, but why wouldn't you just use a Digium/Sangoma/Rhino card for your E1?

Hello Matt :d
I would like to build up a test environment with 3 machines:
2 Vicidial Server load balanced
1 Web/DB Server (maybe a hp ml380)

We have two PRI lines with 30 channels each one, so I was thinking to use a third asterisk server with the only purpose to "transform" the two lines in a unique IAX trunk freedomly usable by both asterisk servers.
But, a "black box" like the fonebridge seems, for me, more reliable. I read every day about people having issues with internal cards in italian and international forums, and for me that just knows the theory, is a frightening scenario :D

TDMoE has it's own issues that you may run into, and the only company that uses that protocol anymore is RedFone(Fonebridge). I used TDMoE several years ago and it is a very interesting protocol, but you need to have it on it's own network using it's own network port on the server. Does FoneBridge offer support in your country? Is it registered for use in your country?
