Im running VD on a amd 64 machine, 2.2 ghz, 512MB ram, with never any more than 4 agents, manual dialing, when dispositioning calls, the dialer lags 2 to 8 seconds behind on hanging up the call, in some instances the new call is dialed while the old one is still on the line, need to know what info you need to help solve this problem. Web server is on same machine, database is on a seperate server. Outbound lines are via an IAX trunk to our trixbox main phone system.

Just in the last few days I had a client report this problem, also using IAX trunks. Just confirmed it today, switching to Zap trunks and the problem goes away. Not sure what causes it, and I cannot duplicate in my testing environment. I am looking into causes for it...

This depends on what you are doing. I have always had very reliable preformance with IAX until this recent development, Of course the best audio quality and reliability is usually with Zap. The most flexible kind of trunks you can use are SIP.

Matt, I m sorry if i ask too much ..
I only use zap trunks for the moment. but i plan to create a server on another country so that instead of calling long distance calls i would use vpn (with guaranteed bandwidth) to the other country & from there make national calls ... as i don't have any real world experience with iax2/sip trunks since I ve never opted for such providers I wonder what would be better ? iax2 or sip or maybe something else ?

IAX is lower bandwidth and uses less system resources, so I would usually recommend IAX. But, for situations where there are problems with IAX, you could just as easily set up SIP beetween two Asteirsk servers to do trunking over a VPN.
