I am using remote agents, I am blind transfering calls to a certain extension. Instead of hearing the universal "ringing sound" before someone at the terminating end picks up is there a way to play music instead ? I am using VDAD 8369, is there something I can enable in the xfer script or insert into the extensions.conf to make that happen ?

So you want to play music to the customer from the time they are transferred to the remote agent number until whenever your remote agent picks up?
How long of a ring time would that be?

a simple (did i say cheater?) method would be to create a "queue" with just that agent in it, and then you can set the music on hold for the queue to whatever you want. it also give you failover and a lot of other possiblities. this would not require vicidial modifications at all. of course, you'd be transferring to the queue instead of the agent, obviously.

You got it .. It wouldnt last longer then 1-4 seconds ... I am calling people and instantly sending them over to an agent once they are determined to be 'HUMAN'

hmm since they are goign to a legacy PBX I'm not sure if that will work .. The other end is just a 'Hunt group' that is setup for Round robin ring style. The agents do not have PC's (At this point). Ghetto but works ..

in that case a solution would be to create the queue on the local vicidial box and put the remote phone number in that queue as a member. now when the call is transferred to the local queue, the local queue begins playing music and calls it's member agents until one answers (since there's only ONE member in this scenario, the outcome of that will not be difficult to predict). local queue on a machine with the combined power of Asterisk and Vicidial making up for a remote legacy box with no power at all. am i getting closer?
