Recordings file and recording_log time discrepancy

Our server is GMT -8.
Agents are in GMT +5 - + 6. Phones are setup to their local time.
In recordings file data-time the local time of the agent is used, but regordings_log database is updated with the server time.
When doing FTP transfer, the newly created folders are according to server time pulled from recordings_log. Thus we end up in /RECORDINGS/2008-11-10 / have file name ..._20081111-...mp3.

A quick sollution would be to set all phones to the server time. Would that affect time displayed on agent's screen, as well as callback times? Is this the better solution?

Or is it better recording file name to have as data-time server's time?

I recommend keeping the servers and phones set to the same time if at all possible.
